Rose & Protection

let the thorns protect you.

There's a lot to be said for becoming soft and comforting where trauma has made you callous; I congratulate your willingness to vulnerable. Usually this includes what I like to call 'pruning your thorns'.

What is there to pruning your defenses before removing the offensive character?

do not create unnecessary holes in your protection.

Really, genuinely assess your position.

Is the threat gone? Are you safe? (and how do you feel?)

If neither of these are true, why do you clip yourself of your ability to fight the hands attempting to crush your beautiful, innermost, softest petals?

Keep your guard up. Fight for your right to live unencumbered.

THEN greet sweetness.

And never forget, if you must, you still have your thorns.
